Warm Hearts, Warm Blankets: Spreading Comfort and Joy in Elder Care Facilities
As the chill of winter approaches, McKenzie Electric Cooperative (MEC) has undertaken a heartwarming initiative set to wrap elders in comfort and kindness. From November to the end of December, MEC will be accepting new and gently used blankets with the mission of delivering warmth to the residents of elder care facilities within our service territory.
The idea behind the blanket drive is simple, yet powerful – to collect blankets and bring a sense of coziness to those who need it the most. The elderly often find themselves facing the cold season with aching bones and longing for a little warmth. It’s here that the blanket drive steps in to ensure no elder goes through winter feeling cold and alone.
As blankets are donated, co-op employees will diligently sort and organize the donated blankets making sure that each blanket carries not just warmth, but a touch of elegance and compassion. It’s not just about providing physical warmth; it’s about reminding our elders that they are cherished and valued members of our society.
77 years ago, members of the community came together to form McKenzie Electric to provide power to the rural communities of the area. As a way to remember the power of coming together, MEC encourages you to donate to this year’s blanket drive to show how acts of kindness, no matter how small, can bring immense comfort and joy to those in need.
