If something goes wrong
Electricity can travel through the ground, water, vehicles and fences. When in doubt, stay back and let our crews make it safe.
- Downed line: Stay at least 35 feet away, keep others back and call 911 and McKenzie Electric.
- Vehicle contact: Stay inside, call 911 and wait for our crews. Only leave if there is a fire.
- If you must exit: Jump clear with your feet together, never touching the vehicle and ground at the same time, then shuffle away.
- Someone is shocked: Do not touch them if they may still be in contact with electricity. Call 911 right away.
